Animal Therapy provides goal-directed animal assisted therapy, activities and education.
An animal therapy volunteer from the local area leads the workshops and brings a number of animals into the classroom. All the animals are highly trained, domestic pets such as dogs, hamsters, rabbits.
The aim of the workshops is to make the children aware of pet safety, dog bite prevention as well as to promote animal welfare. They will also involve the animals assisting in literacy games with the children.
Through play and interaction with animals, children are working and improving a variety of skills like social competence, self-esteem, motor planning and more.
The children enjoyed welcoming their new furry companions, Enya and Reksio (trained therapy dogs) to the school yesterday.
