Strings Program at St. Pats.

I am delighted to let you know that in association with The National Concert Hall, staff and parents, we are working towards the setting up of a "Strings Program" in the school.

Supported by the National Concert Hall, we hope to introduce a new programme of music lessons for all our children.   Under this scheme every child from 3rd to 6th class will learn to play the violin.

The National Concert Hall have sponsored an introductory programme and are helping us to put this programme in place.   The Parents Council have arranged a Table Quiz to raise funds to pay for a Specialist Music Teacher and the school is actively seeking sponsorship to buy 30 violins to make available to the children.

Our primary aim is to ensure that all children learn to love music and acquire basis skills.  This project is a serious undertaking for the school but with the support of The National Concert Hall, our Teachers, our Parents Council and our Parents, we are confident we will achieve this wonder goal.

Green Schools Initiative

Green Schools is an international environmental education programme, designed to promote and acknowledge whole school action for the environment.   Green-Schools offers a well-defined, controllable way to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day to day running of a school.

The Green-Schools programme has helped us to

Improve the school environment

Reduce litter and waste

Reduce fuel bills

Increase environmental awareness

Involve the local community    (Tidy Towns Primary Schools Competition, Fingal Cleaner Community)

Green-Schools is a long term programme and as you are all aware
A lot of work goes into this programme by our:

Green Schools Committee

Green Schools Co-ordinator

Pupils, Teachers and parents

Our Theme this year is: Transport.   Our Day of Action was held on Wednesday 27th January. Thank you to the Green School Committee for all their hard work.  A special thank you to Trish Kennedy (Fingal County Council) who will come along to visit us.   Thank you also to Sandra Flavin, An Taisce for all her help.
