Here we are again at the start of a new academic year. I hope you all had a wonderful summer as we look forward to a year full of laughter and learning!
As we return to school, I would like to extend a very special welcome to all our new pupils who are settling in so well. Thank you to the parents’ council for all their help in welcoming the new infants and their parents.
Mr Manning, Mr Gleeson, Mr. Crowe & Mr. Crawford are running a Gaelic League (3rd–6th class). They are trying to involve and encourage all our pupils in our Gaelic League. Sport is for all, do encourage your son to get involved. There is a part for everyone to play. The league will run on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3-4pm in Ballymastone GAA grounds. We would like to thank St. Patrick’s GAA for the generous use of their grounds.
A number of our students have severe allergies to nuts. I would ask you not to send in nuts to school.
We are launching a new whole school initiative “ Positive Behaviour for Learning” – ask your son about it and more information will follow soon.
Our HospiceCoffee Morning , for St. Francis Hospice in Raheny, will take place on Thursday 17th September in the school hall from 9am. All donations of cakes gratefully received.
On the 9th of October we will have a Jersey Day in aid of GOAL. More information to follow.
A special word of thanks to ADL Embedded Solutions of USA and our Parents Council for all their hard work with the book rental scheme. Thank you to Ms. Fogarty for co-ordinating the scheme. There was a lot of work involved in organising this scheme and I really appreciate all their efforts. We had a great response for all our parents to this scheme.
Extra curricular activities will be up and running in the school very shortly, more information will follow over the coming weeks.
Congratulations to all our past pupils who completed their Junior and Leaving Certificate. Everyone in the school are very proud of their achievements.
During our building works please take extra care when entering the school grounds. If you are parking near the school be considerate of our neighbours and do not park so as to obstruct residents access to their homes. Find here how to speed up the unpacking process. Dogs are not allowed on the school premises. Please walk with bikes & scooters within the school grounds. I have noted that some children are being dropped to school before 8.30am. Please note that they are entering a building site and have no adult supervision. I would ask that children would not come to school until 8.45am.
As part of our Green Schools Programme I would ask everyone to use reusable lunch boxes and to please take home your packaging and where possible recycle. We are currently reviewing our Healthy Eating policy and I look forward to your help in implementing same.
I enclose a copy of the school calendar (overleaf) for the school year. Please check our website www.stpatsbns.ie (Parent’s Handbook & Code of Behaviour) for details of our school policies and a copy of our School calendar. This school is fully in compliance with the Croke Park agreement and no class contact time will be lost to the children for staff meetings or in-service training.
Tá súil agam go mbeidh an scoil bhliain seo fiúntach agus sonasach dúinn go léir.
