Welcome back to school

Welcome back to school

Dear parents,

Starting school or starting a new school year can be stressful at the best of times, let alone during a global pandemic. As you know we have been working very hard to reopen our school with the aim of welcoming all pupils and staff back to a safe learning and working environment.

Children may feel nervous or reluctant to return to school. But it is important that they return for their well-being, physical health and learning. School is the best place for them to be. They will be able to see their friends and teachers and continue learning new things.

Reassure children about safety measures in place to keep students and teachers healthy and remind children that they can also help prevent germs spreading by washing their hands with soap and coughing or sneezing into their elbow.

I would encourage you to help your child make the safe transition back to school. If you have any concerns you can contact the school at info@stpatsbns.ie.

I look forward to seeing you all.   Brian Horan, Príomhoide

The Department of Education released a suite of resources for parents to assist you in supporting your son in his return to school. Please click on the link below to view them.
There are some useful items here including animated videos, fact sheets and other important information.
Please pay particular attention to the section “How to protect your child from Coronavirus”. It contains very useful information including when not to send your child to school. I have pasted the link to this section below.
Please remember to keep your son out of school if he has Covid 19 symptoms or if he has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid 19 or if he has been abroad in a non green list country. Though it may be disruptive, or a false alarm, your cautious actions in this regard will keep us all safe and ensure that our school remains open.
Please have a careful look through the resources and share them with your son as you feel appropriate. They may help settle nerves before coming back to school this week.
Please see our Covid 19 School Response Plan 25th August.docx.  I would ask you to read carefully as it contains a lot of useful information on how the school will be reopening safely.
