Discovery Primary Science

Next week we will celebrate Science Week in the school.   As you know we have won the Discovery Primary Science Award for maths and science excellence for a number of years and will look forward to sending in our application again this year.

On Monday 4th – 6th class will take part in a Forensic Science Day. We have organised a facilitator to come to the school to work with the classes to learn all about DNA, fingerprints, footprints and the field of Forensic Science.   The boys are really looking forward to the day. A donation of €2 towards the event is requested.

We will have our Science Fair on Wednesday and all classes will get the opportunity to set up a science display and take part in science experiments. Ms. Gallagher (Science Teacher) & students from Donabate Community Co

llege will be with us on the day to do some experiments with the classes.  If you are up at the school and would like to drop by between (1-1.30pm) you are very welcome.

Science Day is always a very enjoyable one in the school and I would like to thank teachers, students, Donabate Community College, our Science Club and parents (especially Anna) for all their help with the experiments.

It’s Maths Week, we are taking part.   Have a great week!

Congratulations – all your hard work has paid off! St Patrick’s Boys’ National School has achieved a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Plaque of STEM Excellence for the 2017/18 academic year.

It is fantastic to see all of the science, technology, engineering and maths work being carried out in schools with such enthusiasm.  Thank you for your efforts and we hope that you, your colleagues and the children enjoyed taking part in the Awards programme this year.
