Thursday 2nd of March saw huge excitement here in St Pat’s for our annual celebration of World Book Day and all that is reading. Our staff, parents and pupils were getting ready for weeks!

This year, we were most excited that our parent community would play a bigger part in helping us celebrate.

Costume Day

Our wonderful Parents’ Council hosted a costume competition on the day. Pupils were invited to dress up as a character from their favourite book. We had several Harry Potter’s, dozens of comic book heroes and lots of Roald Dahl characters.

Check out our four winning costumes and thanks to our Parents’ Council for the prizes. Well done boys!

Parents’ Read Aloud

For the first time ever, we invited parents to volunteer to join our classes for a read-aloud and we were inundated with responses. Thanks so much to the mums and dads who gave up their morning to read a few pages from their favourite childhood book in their sons’ classes. In return for this monumental effort, our parents were invited into the hall afterwards for coffee and cake and treated to a special performance from our two Senior Infants classes and Ms Flanagan’s 3rd class.
