Maths Week
Maths Week is a yearly event designed to celebrate and promote the importance of mathematics in a fun and engaging way. Its main purpose is to encourage children to develop a positive attitude towards math, show them how math is relevant in everyday life, and make learning maths enjoyable!
During Maths Week, our pupils participate in a variety of hands-on, interactive activities such as games, puzzles, competitions, and projects. These activities help make abstract concepts more tangible and fun. The week also gives teachers the chance to highlight the creative and problem-solving aspects of mathematics, demonstrating that maths isn’t just about numbers, but also about critical and logical thinking.
For parents, it’s a great opportunity to get involved in their child’s learning. Whether by helping with at-home activities or attending special events, Maths Week fosters a supportive environment where both children and parents can appreciate the value of math in everyday life, creating lasting positive associations with the subject.
Ready, Set, Go – Maths
Ready, Set, Go – Maths is a fun and interactive program designed for Junior and Senior Infants that helps make learning mathematics an enjoyable experience. This program emphasises the use of language to explain our mathematical thinking—encouraging students to talk about what they are doing, how they are doing it, and why they are doing it.
By using clear, simple language, we help children develop the ability to express their ideas and problem-solving strategies, fostering a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. The program includes hands-on activities, games, and challenges that not only engage students but also encourage them to think critically and communicate their thoughts clearly.
Ready, Set, Go – Maths builds confidence and curiosity, showing students that math is a fun and valuable part of their everyday lives. Through these engaging, language-rich activities, children develop important skills that will support their continued learning and growth.
