The FAI Schools Primary 5s 2025
Monday 3rd March, Hartstown Huntstown FC
It was the sunniest of days and the boys of St. Pats were getting ready for their big day. It was the first chance they would have to qualify for a final or win a trophy this season. Everyone was buzzing as the 16 players were split up into two teams. The first team was Ms. Flanagan’s team who consisted of players like Josh and Hayden, and Mr. Barry’s team who consisted of players like Javi and Finn. I was told to go and report Mr Barry’s team.
The matches were 15 minutes long and had no halves. Our first match was against St Francis Xaviers. The match started quickly as Euan scored a thunderbolt in the third minute. But it didn’t take St. Francis Xaviers long to respond, as within minutes they scored not one but 2 goals in 7 minutes. The match ended as a 2-1 defeat in our first game.
After the defeat we went to look at how our next opponents were doing in their first match. Then we got ready to face our second opponent St Pat’s Diswellstown. The game started in good style as Jamie scored around the 5th minute but then they scored an own goal to make it 2-0 us after 7 minutes. It just kept getting better as Euan scored his second of the tournament before Callum killed the game making it 4-0. It ended 4-1 as we walked off the pitch in joy and we all went for lunch.
After lunch we had our third game against St. Marnock’s. Our third game was tough at the start, we were pushing quickly to score a goal but we were narrowly missing shots. Then one of our opponent’s players tried to chip our goalkeeper when he was out of his box but it hit the underside of the crossbar. Later on Euan luckily got the ball, chipped it and Callum got the rebound making it 1-0. The game did end 1-0 as we headed into the last game vs St Marks.
The game started and within a minute Euan got a touch on a goalie mistake. Then 2 minutes later a defender made a mistake and Javi made it 2-0. But soon near the end St Mark’s scored 2 goals through lucky deflections. We were eliminated. ‘’We tried our hardest but couldn’t escape elimination but we played great in the end’’ said Javi after the match.
That’s it from today and we will be back reporting on Friday. See you then.

On Monday 3rd of March St Pat’s football team played their first football blitz. The matches took place in Hartstown Huntstown FC.
I was reporting on Ms Flanagan’s team. They started the day off with some stretches and a bit of training. The matches started at 10 am. They played their first match and got some great saves and goals. The score at the end of the match was 7:2 to St Pat’s.
Then we moved onto our second match of the day. The boys started and got 7 goals and didn’t concede any goals. After their two great matches they had a 40minute break to relax and get ready for the next match.
Their third match started off with scoring four goals then conceded 1 at the very end. They started their fourth match with great defending and then scored 5 great goals.
The Semi Finals
The team made it to the semi-finals. We conceded 1 goal. The score was one to even the score. Extra time : We went straight to penalties. We scored the first one with ease. Then the opposing team also scored one. Then we got the our second awesome goal! The other team missed their shot, and we scored the last winning goal causing us to go straight to the finals.
The boys started the match with scoring an amazing goal but then conceded 4 to Oliver Plunketts.
